A FLEUR DE PEAU - I - There is no home

Jordan Vauvert

Sonny92 Takes the pummelling of atmospheric black metal and combines it with doom metal in such a way, via a cavernous-sounding production job, to give the overall impression of a kind of savage funeral doom. A number of post-metal interludes delineate the various sections of the single forty-odd minute track and provide some respite from the relentless hopelessness Déhà wishes to convey. A triumph of DSBM for a Covid-riddled world.

Metallurgical Fire The album description resonated strongly with me, and the music does not disappoint.

1.
Discord in the mind of the lost ones - no stars to shine down Flayed by a thousand of invisible knives - knowledge is futile Facing a truth, a choice, impossible deed - should one commit Illusions drawn by a past decision - which was not ours It's all about the chains we put on ourselves gladly It's all about the excuses we give to our executioners It's never about us, it's always about them And thus we are seen as predictable, selfish beings And we count the seconds which feel like the longest hours A scarred vision of time, a dimension unknown inside the mind A secret best kept by smartest of all idiocies And it is killing us to the core, draining everything For so many years, i have lost count, my eyes have cleared the path To a long lost road of loneliness yet righteousness To be walked with forsaken soulmates, stuck in being a black hole For themselves and close ones, because they have and are lost But we too are lost in the meanders of hypocrisy We too despise lies and pretend, falseness and politics Yet are we made for this, are we strong enough to hold Are we, soulmates, are we strong enough to help us And thus, with disgust, we still walk the path, alone We neither see nor hear our shared souls, yet we feel But are these feelings enough to sustain our sparkles Is this world enough for us, or are we enough for the world This dilemma eats my insides as roaches infests my home I am homeless, in my head. I am homeless. I will never be able to find home. There is no home.

about

‹ A FLEUR DE PEAU › - Literal French for ‹ to (the) flower of the skin ›

It means ‹ skin-deep sensibility › in English. It is one of the most powerful expressions in the French language concerning such emotional behavior.

‹ There is no Home › speaks about those who do not belong, or do not feel like they do.
A tribute to those who, inexplicably, cannot express why they do not feel comfortable in the world.
